National Youth Agency is working with Barclays to offer young people the skills and experience of Barclays employee volunteers.
Through Barclays employee engagement programme, which is managed by NYA, motivated and committed employees are supporting young people to develop their financial and employability skills.
The volunteers have real life experience of working for a successful international business and can provide insights and advice to help inspire young people considering their career choices. Working in retail banking also provides expertise in finance which can give young people a greater understanding of budgeting and the common financial pitfalls young people may encounter.
Barclays volunteers are continuing to successfully support youth groups with activities including:
- Employability skills
- Financial skills
- People skills
Volunteers are enthusiastic and committed to supporting young people. One commented;
“It gave me an insight into the struggles young people face in finding employment and I took satisfaction in helping them perform to the best of their ability in an interview situation.”
It is quick and easy to request volunteers; look at your future projects and autumn schedules and see where the volunteers can support your sessions. To ensure that we have sufficient time to recruit and train volunteers please note we require 6 weeks notice.
