The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has established the Community Buildings and Housing Grants and Support scheme as part of its commitment to giving communities more power in planning local development and what happens in their neighbourhood. The programme is being delivered by Locality, a national network of community-led organisations, on behalf of the Government.
The Community Buildings Pre-Feasibility Grants scheme is aimed at community groups in England that have identified a possible community building project and are assessing the way forward.
The funding aims to help local groups decide whether it is feasible to take on the project.
Revenue grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available.
Although two applications can be made per group over the programme, an average of one payment per group is expected.
Applications for funding for 2017-18 will be accepted until 1 October 2017 and the funding must be spent by 31 December 2017.
