Dementia Carers information programme (CRiSP) new sessions for 2017

Do you care for someone with a diagnosis of Dementia? The Carers Information Programme is a series of workshops for people caring for a family member or friend with dementia. It provides an opportunity for you to talk in a friendly and confidential environment about your experiences. 

Why not attend a carers’ workshop providing information and support on:

 Types of dementia
 Diagnosis
 Everyday tasks
 Communication
 Legal and financial issues
 Managing money
 Welfare benefits

 Effects of dementia
 Ways of supporting a person with dementia
 Moving forward
 Providing effective support

 Coping strategies
 Managing your feelings
 Staying healthy and looking after yourself
 Next steps

Courses normally take place over four sessions and cover a combination of topics. Please download the relevant flyer below for further information. 
The workshops are run by Alzheimer’s Society staff and volunteers for a group of up to 12 people.

Sessions are available as follows:

Sleaford: 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd February 2017. Sessions run from 2pm – 4.30pm @ Riverside Church, The Source, Southgate, Sleaford, NG34 7RY

The Carers’ Information Programme Part 2 is a series of workshops for people caring for a family member or friend with dementia with a diagnosis of 3+years. It provides an opportunity for you to talk in a friendly and confidential environment about your experiences. It would be beneficial if you could attend all 3 sessions and is recommended that you attend Part 1 workshops prior to this.
There will also be activity group running alongside the programme so you can bring the person you care for, and relax knowing they are safe and well looked after next door!

Topics include:
 Dementia’s impact upon behaviour and everyday tasks
 Triggers
 Importance of understanding behaviour

 Preparing for the future
 Support and services available to you
 As dementia progresses
 Emotional issues

 Understanding the support needs
 Living well as dementia progresses
 Coping with change as more help is needed

Sessions take place as follows:

Louth: Thursday 8th, 15th and 22nd June 2017. Sessions run from 2pm-4.30pm @ Trinity Centre, Eastgate, Louth, LN11 8DJ
