National Citizen Service (NCS) summer 2017 is 4 months away…But NCS is already allocating Lincolnshire teens to waiting lists. With 1200 young people expected to take part in Lincolnshire this summer they can offer even more community venues the opportunity to benefit from the final phase of the programme – social action.
Social action is where the young people utilise all the skills they’ve developed through the earlier phases of the programme to make a positive and lasting change in their local communities. Projects can range from campaigns, such as increasing the amount of community members trained to deliver life support or raising awareness of mental health and its inclusion on the curriculum, to more visible projects like redecorating public venues and creating disability-friendly communal gardens.
The very nature of the programme and requirements of social action means around 80 Lincolnshire community venues or areas can reap amazing benefits at no cost to themselves. So if you have a project or venue that you feel may be suitable, or if you would like further information please contact: 01522 574133 or Cheryl.Barrows@the-ebp.co.uk.
