On Wednesday 25th June teams from Voluntary Centre Services will be hosting a launch event at Rasen Hub, Queen Street, Market Rasen, LN8 3AA for their newest Volunteering Access Point.
Market Rasen is the third Volunteering Access Point to be established in West Lindsey, with Caistor and Saxilby venues already in operation. The project, which has been running since August 2013, aims to provide high quality advice about volunteering opportunities within local communities where volunteering actually happens. Project Officer Heather Arnatt says “We’re really pleased to be offering our services to the Market Rasen community. We recognise there are already a number of active projects involving volunteers in this area and we want to do more to support them. We hope local volunteers will benefit from the advice our team can offer on their doorstep, rather than having to travel to Lincoln or Gainsborough.”
The project, which has been running since August 2013, aims to provide high quality advice about volunteering opportunities within local communities where volunteering actually happens. Advisors are available in both Caistor and Saxilby on a weekly basis to speak with anyone who has a question about getting more involved in their community.
This free event begins at 12.30pm with opportunities for networking and refreshments, followed by a lunchtime volunteering talk about the benefits of volunteering and local opportunities from 1pm. Anyone who is considering volunteering, or would like to share their experience is invited to attend.
Local businesses are invited to join the event at 2.30pm when the advice team will be talking about ways to become more involved in the local community through Voluntary Centre Services’ Employer Supported Volunteering project. The short talk entitled “What volunteering means for your business” looks at some of the successful projects already completed by Lincolnshire businesses and discusses volunteering as an opportunity to raise awareness for your company.
