Lincolnshire Move Project Administrator

Les rejoined Voluntary Centre Services is the MOVE Project Administrator.  MOVE is a three-year Big Lottery/EU funded project aiming to help those people furthest away from employment to identify, address and overcome barriers to finding paid work. The project has brought together 24 local third sector organisations and education providers to build on existing employability services and provide more consistent, accessible and joined-up support.

Les spent many years as a member of the Royal Air Force, serving in places as varied as Norway to the Falkland Islands and from Iraq and Cyprus  to the USA and many places in between. Working up through the ranks, he finished his career as a Staff Officer within the Defence Scientific and Technical Laboratories (Dstl), advising scientists on wide ranging aspects of military activities.  Upon leaving the service, Les became a senior consultant with Lockheed Martin, the US defence contractor, where he worked on significant projects with the UK MOD.  Upon leaving Lockheed Martin, Les decided to take a break but soon became restless and joined the third sector, firstly as a volunteer, and then as a member of staff within Voluntary Centre Services.

Les has previously volunteered with Heritage Lincolnshire, where he helped to conduct a survey of the many thousands of listed buildings and sites within the county. He currently acts as a volunteer guide for the Lima Sector Operations Room for the wartime 12 Group at RAF Digby. Les also held the role of Trustee/Director with the Citizen’s Advice Mid-Lincolnshire. In his spare time Les enjoys gardening, DIY and golf.
