Talent Match Youth Advocate

Having worked for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue for the last 7 years, Lorraine has recently joined the Voluntary Centre Services as the Talent Match Youth Advocate for Gainsborough. The Talent Match programme is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and will run until the end of 2018. The focus of the project will be to get young people back into employment, education or training by providing them with one to one support and mentoring. Lorraine’s role will be to work with young people between the ages of 18 – 24 who have been unemployed  for at least 12 months.

Lorraine has worked extensively with the young  people of Gainsborough in her previous role of Team Leader with the Princes Trust TEAM programme.  She gained an honours degree in History of Art and Design from Lincoln University and holds a  CTLLS certificate .  During her time with Princes Trust, Lorraine developed the new format of DVD presentations with her students which was a completely new venture within the programme, enabling students to communicate their journey in a 21st century way using digital media.  Lorraine also created a system for creating Risk Assessments which was recognized as Best Practice within Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue’s Youth Engagement Team.  She has delivered many sessions on employability, teamwork and community working.

Lorraine has also worked as a volunteer with SOVA and as an Assistant with the Young Firefighters project in Lincoln.  In her spare time, she enjoys anything creative from sewing and knitting  to renovating property, gardening, reading and felt making.
