This handbook is an excellent information resource that’s designed to help people set up a group, run their organisation and ensure groups and organisations stay within the law. It contains a wealth of information, guidance and examples in everything from creating a constitution to applying for funding.
RUS is a collection of five sections:
Section 1 – Setting up your group
Contains useful information for anyone wishing to form a voluntary or community group including a step by step guide to setting up a groups.
Section 2 – Running your group
Contains useful information on the key responsibilities of your group’s management committee (including keeping within the law), creating and using policies.
Section 3 – Funding your group
Contains a step by step guide to searching for funding, preparing your project and applying for grants.
Section 4 – Equality and Diversity for your group
Contains useful information on what you need to know about this subject in order to comply with the law, engaging with diverse communities and making your group/service accessible to others.
Section 5 – Jargon Buster
Organisations in the voluntary and community sector and funders use jargon and acronyms unfamiliar in everyday language, this section will explain the terms highlighted throughout the RUS.
