A Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check is a search of a person's details against criminal records and other sources, including the Police National Computer. The check will either confirm that you don’t have a criminal record, or it will list any relevant convictions, cautions, reprimands, warnings and, if applicable, whether you have been barred from working with vulnerable groups.
When the CRB check is complete, you will receive a CRB certificate. Both you, and your employer, will see the results of your search. Whatever the results your employer will decide whether they can still employ you.
A CRB check normally will be received in the following timescales as the Criminal Records Bureau aims to process:
Please Note. It may be possible for a CRB check to take up to eight weeks in total to receive due to one or more of the following reasons:
If you have any further questions please contact your local VCS office and ask for a CRB advisor or alternatively go to http://www.direct.gov.uk then type the letters CRB into the search bar and press enter.
