National Citizen Service (NCS) is a government funded youth programme that helps 16-17 year olds develop valuable skills for work and life. The 4 week programme encourages participants to become more engaged and responsible citizens, with the last 2 weeks seeing them making a positive difference in their local community with a ‘Social Action Project’.
Social action projects can range from physical projects such as redecorating community venues or enhancing outdoor public spaces, to awareness projects such as campaigns to raise support for important causes or developing petitions for local issues. All projects should leave a positive, lasting legacy in the community.
Can you host a group of young people wanting to make a difference in the Sleaford area?
All that is needed is a venue the young people can use as a base whilst they complete the project. Teams will consist of up to 15 young people (aged 16-17 years) and will be supervised and supported full time by NCS staff, so your involvement with the team can be as much or as little as you wish it to be.
The dates for this summer’s social action weeks are:
Cohort 1: 10th July – 21th July
Cohort 2: 17th July – 28th July
Cohort 3: 24th July – 4th August
Cohort 4: 31st July – 11th August
Cohort 5: 7th August – 18th August
Cohort 6: 14th August – 25th August
